On the first Thursday of each month, committee members get together to write birthday and get-well greetings and make plans for visits or preparing food for parishioners who are ill or homebound. Sharing condolences with parishioners who have lost family members is important. The committee has started a prayer shawl project, and invites knitters to join in knitting the shawls for parishioners who are rehabilitating and recuperating.
Every Thursday afternoon, in the parish hall, food is distributed to individuals in need. Nobody need "qualify" for receiving food.

This group evolved out of the Synoptic Gospels study group. Using the Bible and other books to explore topics of Christian faith, the group meets on the first Friday each month.
Food offerings for sharing during the Food Pantry distribution on Thursdays are gathered all month in the big basket in the parish hall. Then on the second Sunday of each month, the food is blessed during the 9:15 service.
We meet either in the sanctuary or outdoors in the parking, depending on weather. Bring your furred or feathered pet, four-legged or otherwise, or just come, to share in honoring our beloved animal companions.

This is one of our most popular annual events. Members of the community look forward to an extravaganza of holiday gifts, decorations, and party items, plus delicious homemade jams, candies, and baked goods. A silent auction focuses on items that add grace to a home. A raffle entices the gambler in each of us to go-for-the-gold in wonderful prizes. We love this event, and it gives us another opportunity to get together to make the irresistible handmade craft items, and to earn money for St. James outreach programs.
Our Holiday Cafe serves a tasty lunch, for a tasty price, during the middle of the day. This part of the event is worth the trip alone.

Pause for reflection with us on the first Sunday in Advent. Listen by candlelight to music by classical guitarist Daniel Weston and readings from scripture and other sources. The beautiful combination will prompt us to reflect upon the meaning of the season. This event is brief (approximately 45 minutes) and free.
